| B30 in Poncelet slipper |
William arrived today with his Poncelet motorboat. Made in Belgium in the late 60's and early 70's, William's boat Zoe has a Penta B30 fitted (similar to the 164's 6-cylinder motor) Having come out of winter refit, the motor developed an uncomfortable misfire, and we ended up fitting a nice new fully electronic distributor today. Now, as I commenced fitting it, I wondered whether the ballast resistor should remain or not, and emailed Albert (the designer of the 123 dizzie): inside 5' Emma came out wielding a piece of paper ("peace in our time"?), which was Albert's response: "leave it in the circuit". So, within 30' we had the engine fired up again, and it sounded gorgeous! Now, I suspect that referring to Zoe as a slipper is probably technically incorrect, since she's got a deep-vee hull - but I don't know!
