| Performance Assessment |
We are pleased to have just invested in a superb bit of applied science: the RaceLogic Performance Box. At long last we are now able to quantify any action taken on a customers car.
- When will we use it?
- With the customers permission, since we shall be using full revs
- Before any engine is removed
- Once our new engines are run-in
- Before/after any significant modifications
- What will it tell us?
- 0-100kmh times, ie directly how quick the car is
- 100-0kmh, ie how quick it stops
- Lateral forces, this is important when assessing tyre choices
- It can give bhp at the flywheel
however we would need an accurate weight for this to be valid. - Importantly, we can now quantify any performance changes that we make
- For instance
- Emma's PV544 B18
- Emma's P1800S (standard B18 D-cam engine)
- Terry's P1800E
- 0-100kmh in 12.8s but full throttle was not available due to the carpet!
- We shall be using this information to discuss an engine change with Colin later this week, whose car feels quick (it's very light) but in fact is not as sharp as it should be.
- Emma is pleased that her PV is the quickest, so far! But my 142 has yet to be tested...
