| Fuel Injection for the B18/B20 motors: progress! |
Those of you who've met me will know just how long I've talked about sorting out fuel injection "this year".
Well after so many years of intentions, today is the day to make it happen in reality.
What we're aiming to do is threefold:
- Create a modern EFI system to keep Bosch D-Jetronic owners running more efficiently
This is needed because sadly Bosch no longer manufacture any of the D-Jet components. Also, we can do better with todays technology (wonderful as the D-Jet was for many years). - Create a legitimate Historic Rally fit for the Post Historic B20 cars
I expect this to give significant benefits in mid range, and probably redline, power - even compared to the DCOE's
- Create an aftermarket kit for both B18 & B20 owners
Aimed at owners with a technical interest in getting the best out of their vehicle Also, those that have sport motors and hate the idea of spending many hundreds on Rolling Road set ups Stage1: today is the planning & purchasing day, as I head out to Emerald in Norfolk to talk to the guru: Dave Walker Stage2: rebuild our (very tired) 145 B20 motor, into 2.1 litre. Stage3: mobilise the fuel injection system Stage4: shake down trip to mid France for the family holiday Stage5+: install full blown (non FIA eligible) system on my 142, as that doesn't spend much time in Historic events any more!
