| Fuel Injection: engine taking shape |
I spent 8hrs (Friday pm to Saturday pm) boring out the 145's B20 engine.
As you can see, it appears that we can remove 2kg (over 4lb) of metal from the bores: that's a 20p, 10p and 5p coins to give the scale.
The worry (not too much to be honest) is that I've gone too close to the oil galleries, and that one day we'll crack the cylinder bore, so all we have to do now is run the car and see if we can break it!
- Bearing in mind we're aiming for a car that tows well, and long distance cruising...
- We have 2150cc capacity now (B21 pistons, +020thou)
- Approx 9.3:1 compression ratio
- A K-cam will go in
- The crankshaft has been honed (didn't need grinding)
- The cylinder head is now unleaded, with a gentle skim
By the end of this week I should have the engine loaded back into the car, then all I have to do is mobilise the fuel injection!
