| Workshop busy: rally cars; 145 fuel injection & LPG |
A couple of cars left the workshop during the past week:
- William's 122S had our long range safety tank fitted, as he plans to use it for some long distance continental events. I forgot to show him the new starter button (to avoid broken ignition keys), which caused us both a little embarrassment!
I think William also has a 911, and something else exotic, in his stable. - George's black 130 (that featured in a recent motoring magazine) was collected for shipment down to South Africa: George and Margot are doing the Safari, taking in 5 Southern African countries!
We've put 600 miles on our 145 with modern fuel injection: it really is truly remarkable! As we do more mileage I'm getting the injection maps tied down reasonably well, and we're now up to 300miles out of a tank of fuel - so I can certainly improve it further. I also need to tie down the higher throttle settings, but that will have to wait until the motor has bedded in a bit more.
I have also bought the LPG kit for the 145, this project will progress over the coming fortnight.
- I've opted for a 60l vertical toroidal tank (ie in place of the spare wheel)
- So I'm looking for a spacesaver spare wheel now!
