| June: back ends |
- Charity: £2,488+£220 raised
- Products
Used
- Twin fuel tank from Roger Mowzer, 80litres
- Garmin
GPS 76Cx for navigation
- Samsung Netbook to update the
website as we progress, possibly...
- Safety Devices: full
rollcage
- Superflex:
polyurethane bushes
- 123: distributor (with Amazon Cars bespoke
advance curve for modern fuels)
- Varley: pair of dry cell
batteries from DMS Technologies
- LAE Ltd: lighting & airhorns
- Amtin
Ltd: alloy for steering guard
- Test run: we took it marshalling on the Essex Charity Stages down near Burnham on Crouch
- Recaro seats: I got pretty bad ache in my right shoulder/neck (throwback to whiplash a couple of years ago), solved by Emma who suggested putting a small cushion behind my bum, which sorts out the posture and opens up the gaps where the nerves exit the spine at my neck. Wonderful! So the seats are firm, supportive and now comfortable.
- The car stayed cool inside throughout Independence Day (which was blazing sun and pretty hot in East Anglia), so the paintjob works well.
- The passenger footwell got a tad hot, so we need some insulation 'twixt exhaust and floorpan
- The B20A single carb motor is happy at 5000rpm giving 143kmh, but the carb just can't give enough charge to run at higher rpm - however what we wanted was a low revving torquey motor, which is what it's good at.
- Week 26
- Handheld fire-extinguisher mounted on the gearbox tunnel
- Week 25
- Pair of Recaro seats acquired from our man Myles; now
fitted, and they're rather nice (plus 2kg lighter in total)
- Week 24: rear suspension (the other back end)
- LongWheelBase torque and support rods selected
- Rods all cleaned up - particularly important to remove the scale before bushes are fitted of course!
- 10 poly bushes fitted to rear suspension
- SADLY! The road springs just don't sit naturally on the long wheel base set up, so I'm prepping up the original 1" shorter set returning it to it's original state
